Being the commonest raptors in Hong Kong, Black Kites are not yet well understood by the locals. In order to promote the knowledge about the raptors and their habitat, ERC, Green Power and Friends of Sai Kung have been co-organizing the Hong Kong Black Kites Carnival annually since 2007. Exhibition regarding biological facts of the raptors, distribution of black kites in Hong Kong, and Conservation are open to the public. Well-trained volunteers are ready to provide assistance on raptor identification and offering relevant knowledge to the public. We alsolike to spice up the event by providing interactive activities. People were welcome to use the telescopes provided for bird-watching.
In addition, the first Hong Kong Raptor Festival is scheduled in 2016. Both the Hong Kong Black Kite Festival and Hong Kong Raptor Festival are to bring the crowd and the birds together, promoting the importance and diversity of the raptors to the public.
